For World Hand Hygiene Day, NGO Tammana collaborated with Fortis Hospital Mohali to promote awareness regarding the same for the children at Government Model Senior Secondary School Sector 23 A, Chandigarh.
Each year the ‘Save Lives: Clean Your Hands’ campaign by WHO – World Health Organisation aims to progress the goal of maintaining a global profile on the importance of hand hygiene in health care and to ‘bring people together’ in support of hand hygiene improvement globally.
For the NGO’s #Event144, experts from Fortis Hospital educated the 5th and 6th-grade students on the significance of hand hygiene.
‘The aim was to promote basic hand hygiene that leads to a germs-free, healthy life. and to encourage good hygiene practices among the children and promote their overall well-being, shared the NGO’s Founder President Isha Kakaria.
As part of the initiative, children were also distributed shampoos and soaps along with refreshments therein.
Additionally, the event also aimed to educate the children about their rights and the importance of understanding and identifying inappropriate behaviour. The team members from the NGO organised separate sessions for girls and boys to discuss the concept of good touch and bad touch and even counselled various children post the same.
