Punya Earned !
The enthusiastic team of the Tricity based NGO Tammana in its 102nd event covered the freezing December night with their warmth during its annual silent blanket distribution drive – “Punya ‘2018”. The members of the NGO in the midnight on 15-16th December in a fleet of cars; went around the Tricity & covered the shelter less with blankets without having to wake them up. The silent rally started at 1 am & ended by 4 am.
For executing this, a special route map was pre-designed taking into consideration the spots of market corridors, bus stands & hospitals etc to cover roadside vendors and the shelterless, helplessly sleeping there, who bear the wrath of cold winter nights and sometimes even lose their lives due to the same.
In a pre-dated survey done before the event in a midnight visit, + shelter-less were found sleeping on sacks, covered with negligible warmth, evidently seeking comfort in market corridors than let winter take a toll on them in the open.
The word for the collection was spread through various Social Media Handles to encourage the general masses to do their bit.
Founder Ms.Isha Kakaria expressed that PUNYA is an attempt to give back to this world what it needs the most, a touch ofcompassion by valuing each life in every way possible & promoting the community bonding.
